Azzopardi/Norton marriage 1882

I am researching the family of my brother-in-law, Patrick Norton.

His great grandfather, James Norton (born in Ireland) was a gunner in the Royal Artillery in Malta when he married Maria Azzopardi in Sliema on 12th April 1882 ; Maria was a waitress. Jamesís witness was a James Harrington, a soldier, also from Lurgan, Co. Cavan, but living in Sant Elmo, Valetta (the military fortress).

James and Maria were both living in Sliema at the time of their marriage.

Maria Azzopardi was born in Vittoriosa, Malta, around 1857. Her parentsí names were Georgio Azzopardi (deceased at the time of her marriage), a boatman, and Carmela Falzon (alive at the time of marriage), occupation not recorded.

James's father, Patrick Norton (deceased at the time of Jamesís marriage) had been a sea captain, while his mother's (Mary MacNelleyís) occupation was not recorded.

On 7th October, 1882, a son, George Rosario Domenico, was born to James & Maria in Valetta, where they were both living at the time.

I would be very grateful for any information, or a pointer in the right direction
