Jackson family living in Malta
Hi,
Looking for information on a British naval familing living in Malta in the years leading up to WWI.
Mary Houghton (b. abt 1869 in India / daughter of Louisa Maria Houghton)and Napoleon "Lawrence" Jackson, Engine Room Officer in the Royal Navy (b. 1864 in Yorkshire, England / son of Thomas Jackson & Frances Shaw / serving on the HMS Magpie in 1901).They were the parents of four known children:
1.Lawrence Henry Jackson (b. Jun 1898 on Portsea Island, Hampshire, England);
2. Janet Frances Jackson (b. Jun 1899 on Portsea Island, Hampshire, England)may have married Charles William Gardner (b. Mar 1901) in 1927;
3. Gladys Louisa Jackson (b. Sep 1900 on Portsea Island, Hampshire, England) may have married Phillip Adams in 1925; and
4. Dorothy May Jackson (b. Dec 1903 on Portsea Island, Hampshire, England) may have married Walter W. Durant in 1929.
Last definitive record of the family is the Passenger List for the SS Sicilia arriving in London from Malta and ports in the Far East on 30 Aug 1914.Mary, her mother, the four children and her sister-in-law Frances Jane Jackson, travelled 2nd class.Notations indicate that they had been living in Malta and were retuning to England permanently.
Any help at all in tracing the family would be appreciated - Frances Jane Jackson and Napoleon Lawrence Jackson's brother Alfred married into my family and I believe that we may have photos of Mary and some of her children.
Many thanks,Lili
