Well Charles, yes I do realise how small Malta is, it's population and even the size as compared to New York, Toronto or Sydney for that matter.
What I'm saying is that experience has shown that dealing with genealogist, especially for people living far away from Malta's shores, is at best a dicey situation.
For example, having dealt with your recommended contact took approx one calendar year. Each and everytime I am the one who had to remind them to update me with a status and finally, when information was received it has been inacurate and incomplete.
They take your money and give nothing but bad service in return.
And there you have it. Before making recommendations or provide links, one should at least look at past history otherwise provide a disclaimer.
People who have access to the Church or Parish databases have us by the short hairs. Genealogists should be controlled by both the government and the church authorities. By control I mean that they should be authorised and licenced.
I would really like to see some kind of website set up which should at least look professional and without the constant advertising as one gets on Searchmalta. A website dedicated to the sharing of information for those living in Malta or places where the Maltese migrated over the years. Enough rambling.
