Hi Mark,
I do not have the certificates, so I do not know if this was an occupation, but likely it was on the marriage certificate for them. They were married in July of 1877. They married when she was 22 (Alfonso was 34) years old.
His full name was Alphonse Mary Joseph John Emanuel Peter Paul Locano the son of Dr. Francis Xavier Locano and Giovanna Cutajar.
Perhaps you are from the same family line? Her full name was Maria Carmela Josephine Caruana born 1855 in Sfax, Tunis, Tunisia; died November 1931 in Valetta, Malta. I have a photo of her and her many children if you are interested.
Her family line is very garbled, and makes no sense to me...but here it is:
Antonio Sateranio married Francesco (I think an ending of 'o' indicates a male, ending of 'a' indicates a female...note the ending of 'o' on both parents???)
Antonio and Francesco have child Emma Caruana. Why isn't Emma's surname Sateranio?
Emma married an Antonia (note the 'a' indicating she married a female???) Locano who was born in Gharb Gozo, Malta. Coinsidence that Locano is repeated here, when Maria herself married one?
Maria Carmela is the child of Emma & Antonia Locano.
Let me know if any of this sounds familiar to you...perhaps we are related!
Karen
