As far as my grandad Thomas Malpass (born 1927) can remember all of his family came from Ruiton St. Lower Gornal. My great aunt Jean still lives 2 streets away. His grandparents were Jinny (possible short for Virginnia or Jeanette) Malpass (Formely Bate)& John (also known as Jack) Malpass. John had a brother, also Thomas and a sister Mary. Most of the male members of the family were miners. I will try to find out more information from other members of the family for you. They lived in a large sandstone cottage with a huge inglenook fireplace. unfortunately none of these have survived the passing of time. Most of my ancestors are buried in the churchyard of St.James church, Lower Gornal.

I will be in touch again, as soon as I find any more information.

But it certainly looks like we are distant relatives.

P.S. I now live in Shropshire, but only a 40 minute drive from Lower Gornal.

Bye for now.
