Hi there Tim ,I,m seeking the same answer ,why the name change Samuel Morphus B1866 at Wordsley was my Great grandfather He wed a Emma Pidduck at Linby using the name Morphus He was burried with that name when he died in 1925
His eldest son Thomas (my Grandfather kept the same surname )but the rest of the family took the name Malpass
although that was not the name they were born with..I would have thought that as you have been brought up with them you would have had more details Ive managed to go back to the early 1800s Alan...
