I wonder if you could possibly help us. Recently we came across a book written in 1912 set in our town, Emmitsburg, Maryland, supposedly by a Charles M. Maloy. We've put the book on-line and you can read it at http://www.emmitsburg.net/archive_list/articles/history/stories/contralto/1.htm.

As you'll note in the preamble, The first mention of the book appears a the November 20, 1912 edition of the Frederick News Post:

'The Contralto a new book which has just been published and in which the scene is laid at Emmitsburg. A love story is given in which a number of well known characters about Emmitsburg are interwoven The names are disguised in part, but not so much that they cannot be recognized by a person familiar with the names in that section. The book is by Roger M. Carew, who spent the summer of 1910 in Emmitsburg. It is said Carew's real name is Charles M. Maloy."
In a 1906 Emmitsburg Chronicle, we founda review of a play - which they note in the book, and give a Father Maloy credit.

What are trying to determine if Charles M. Maloy was Father Maloy, or if he was a relative of Father Maloy. According to the publisher of the book, Maloy would have been born around 1873.

Needless to to say, we would appreciate anything you could tell us about the Maolys
