Hi Mary Malouin Johns,
Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, I just saw your message today.
First, we are definitely related that is for sure, because there was a massive exodus from Quebec to U.S.A. in 19th century. Some of my ancestors did go to US too.
How high up in the latter (i.e. how many generations is what we will have to find out). So far in my research, I concentrated on my lineage in Quebec. I checked quickly in my Quebec database and did not find your father or your grand-father which were probably born and/or married in USA.
Maybe, if possible, ask your fatherís older sister, Doris Deschambeau, the names of her grand-parents and great-grand-parents, and it is probably at one of these two generations that the link comes back in the province of Quebec or maybe southeastern Ontario.
With that information, I have probably all the necessary info to complete your tree all the way back to Jean Rinfray or more commonly referred to Rinfret dit Malouin who is the first ancestor to come to Quebec about 1685. Let me know if you want to know more.
You can email me directly at email@example.com
Hope to hear from you soon. Danielle Malouin
