Malone, 86, of Tusculum, TN, died Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Laughlin HealthCare Center, Greeneville, Greene Co TN. Mr. Malone retired from Firestone in Dayton, OH. He was a member of Bradburn Hill United Methodist Church and in his later years attended Central Baptist Church. Mr. Malone was a Ruritan club member. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre from 1943-45. He was wounded in battle and awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for heroism. Mr. Malone was the widower of Dorothy 'Dot' White Malone, his wife of 61 years who died January 3, of this year. He was born July 10, 1923, a son of the late Rev. J. P. and Eula Malone; and was preceded in death by a sister, Mauvaline Chapman. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Steve Spatz of Greeneville, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Gina Malone of Laguna Hills, CA; his four grand- children, Kylie Malone of CA, Amanda Spatz of Greeneville, TN, and Thailand, Kyle Spatz of Greeneville, TN, and Trevor Malone of CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Helen Malone; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha Malone, and Irene and Junior Gass; and a brother-in-law, R. L. Johnston of Maryville, TN. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service. The funeral service will follow visitation at 1:30 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. The Rev Todd Abbey, the Rev. Nathan Malone, and Kyle Spatz, lay speaker, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kyle Spatz, Wayne Chapman, Paul Collins, Ben Collins, Ron Athon, and Mike Young. Interment will be in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.
