Can anyone identify the two Allen girls who were living with Malone families in Marshall County, Mississippi, in 1850? The census shows Louisa A. Allen (10, born in Alabama) living with the family of Thomas J. Malone and Mary B. Allen (14, born in Alabama) living with the neighboring family of Robert H. Malone. Alternatively, does anyone know the background of Thomas J. (49, b. Virginia) and Robert H. Malone (30, b. Virginia)? I am wondering whether the girls were orphan children of a Turner/Allen marriage. We know from a Turner will of 1861 that there had been such a marriage and that the mother, at least, was dead by then. The 1850 census also shows some of the Allen children living with our Turner families in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, so it is likely that both their parents had already died by 1850. That Turner family had moved from Halifax County, Virginia, to Williamson County, Tennessee, about 1816 and on to Yalobusha County, Mississippi, about 1835. I know there were Malones in Halifax and Williamson Counties, but I don’t know that they were connected with either Turners or Allens in those places. We are not certain about the first names of the Allen and Turner parents. The only marriage that looks reasonable is Matthew Allen and Ann Turner in Williamson County, Tennessee, on 13 November 1826. One Matthew Allen is listed in the 1850 Death Schedules as having died in Lawrence County, Alabama, in May (1849? 1850?); he was 54 years old and had been born in Georgia. Can anyone help?
