It would seem Gladys Higdon Mallory would have had to get a divorce or have Lloyd declared dead before she could marry, again. If divorced, her petition might have given an address for Lloyd. If she didn't know where he was or the circumstances of his death, she might have had to wait 7 years to have him declared. (just speculating)

I note a Maxine J Mallory born in Missouri 1919 enlisted in WWII enlisted Peoria Adams Co IL as an aviation cadet 11 Dec 1842...she is listed as divorced with no dependents. 5'3" 121 pounds. Seems like this must be your cousin.
Her occupation was an embossing machine operator. She had completed 4 years of high school. You might find a picture of her in one of the Peoria High school annuals (Or maybe Quincy) and maybe locate friends who knew her.
