Does the Mallette clan from around Vancleave have any connection to my branch of the family?

I am descended from William Mallett, II, who was born in Lunnenburg Co. Virginia c 1760, later moved into South Carolina and Georgia, and finally moved with his family into Mississippi (Lawrence County) in 1816, later moving to Hinds County.

Original ancestor to arrive this side of the pond from Bordeaux was Etienne Mallet, who settled in Mannakintown Virginia in 1699. William II was his great grandson.
