We're working on the same line. I have quite a bit of information. They were most likely French and are among some of the earlier settlers of Purrysburg, S.C. Gideon Mallette shows up on the 1790 census and earlier. I show him granted 550 acres in the Purrysburg area in 1739. Jacques Mallette III, son of Joseph was the earliest ancestor I have.
