I have some very interesting info regarding the war of 1812 and the Mallett family of Trumbull. I bought a box of papers at a auction and discovered this letter from Captain John Nichols to Gideon Mallett ordering him to gather all officers and soldiers to assemble armed and ready in Hunington Ct.
Gideon was born in 1778 to Sarah Mallett Sears according to
the book John Mallett, The Huguenot, & His Descendents the interesting thing is it does not mention any of these men as having served in the book.
Here is a what the letter said:

Trumbull August the 26th 1812
Sergeant Gideon Mallett
Sir you are herby ordered to give lawfull warning to all the officers and soldiers within the following limits in which you live (something) Beginning at the south parts of the limits of the 7 Col (something) going north on the turnpike as far as (someone Philo ?) Hawleys on the (something ?) west (something) as far north as the Baptist meeting house and from (said ?) meeting house west to Issac Wakelee’s (all ?) south and east of (said ?) Wakelees to appear on the parade near (someone ?) in Huntington on the first Monday in September
next ( something ?) of the clock in the morning complete in their arms in order for viewing.
