Hi Holger,

Thank you for the e-mail. Any and all information on the Mallek name is very interesting and helpful.

Is the Mallek name a common name in Poland or Germany?

I live in Maryland, U.S.A. My great-grandfather's name was Philip Mallek and on his records he lists his place of birth as Austria Poland. He was born in Poland in 1865 and died in 1965. He never spoke of family. We suspect he had a few siblings, but still need to confirm that. According to the records his father's name was John Mallek and mother was Mary ??. He was a tailor by trade. He married my great-grandmother, Sophia Rakowski and they had 2 children.

Do you know if any of the Mallek's in your family emmigrated to the U.S. and when?

Any information that you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated.
