"The Story of an Old Farm" written by Andrew D. Mellick in 1889, is about the family of Johannes Moelich immigrating to New Jersey in 1735. The book states, "In America, during the last 150 years, various spellings and pronunciations of the name have been in vogue; signatures of the Moelichs appear as Molich, Malick, Melick, Malek, Mellick, etc." He settled in the Somerset county area. You might try this if this is the time frame and area you are looking at.
