I am reading a book from the library. The name of this book is Genealogies of Rhode Island Families Volume 11. Godfrey Malbone son of Peter of Newport Rhode Island married Catherine Scott. There is a big article in this book about their family coat of Arms. (Worth Readiung)
It also gives some insight on their children. Godfrey Jr., John, Thomas and their daughters Elizabeth, Aliph, Mary and Catherine.
Godfrey Sr.was so rich. He is affiliated with the Trinity Church of Newport and is buried under this church.
Godfrey Malbone Jr. married a Catherine Brinley He died in Pomfret, Connecticut November 12 1785.
John Malbone son of Godfrey Sr. never married, but he lived with and had six children with Patience Greene (spinster) They lived together for a lifetime. Their third child was Edward Greene Malbone. (never Married) He was a famous Artist of Newport. Edward only changed his last name to Malbone after he gained fame. ( His father gave him legal right to change his name) Edward died in 1807 at home of his cousin Robert MacKay in Savannah Georgia) (? Did all their children go by Greene or Malbone) Is this why we get so stuck on our genealogy of this family?
Godfrey Jr. when he moved to Pomfret Connecticut took with him about 60 to 70 slaves. It states that all Malbones from Connecticut descend from Godfrey Jr of Newport.
Patience Greene and oldest son George died in 1793.
John Malbone Sr. died October 15 1795.
There is no mention of John and Patience other children.
Does anyone else have the names of the other children in their family line?
Has anyone researched Those Malbone papers in Newport Rhode Island and if so is there any info that would help in this family line?
