One area of research which might not yet be available to the general public is the work carried out by LEPRa/London School of Hygience and Tropical medicine/Malawi minstry of Health. I worked in Malawi from 1970 to 1997 and was with LEPRA from 1976 to 97. the rsearch carried out on leprosy in Karonga Disrtict recored the total population so far as was possible - some 120 thousand people. Geneologies were drawn up from oral testimony as it was thoght that genetics might have influence. These records were all computerised and will one day form a valuable geneolical record for Karonga District in Malawi.
