Hi--
I, too, am descended from Emmanuel Williams and his wife Abigail Makepeace Williams, through their son John.Emmanuel and Abigail are my 8G-grandparents.
According to *Genealogy of the Williams Families* by John Oliver Williams (Brookline, MA, 1938):
"William Makepeace and Abigail Tisdale, the father and mother of Abigail Makepeace, were married Dec. 2, 1685, and she was born Nov 26, 1686 (Freetown Records).Makepeace conveye to Mr. "Immanuel Williams" the husband of his daughter, June 10, 1703, fifty acres of land as the portion of Immanuel Wiliams and his wife Abigail, daughter of said William Makepeace, in his estate.
"Abigail was then but sixteen years old, six months and fifteen days, and had undoubtedly just been married and thi sland was a marriage portion."(p.131)
Mr. Williams then goes on (rather fatuously, I imagine):"Emmanuel's wife, Abigail Makepeace, is descended direct from Abel Makepeace, Esq., who mar. a daughter of Lawrence Washington, Esq., of Gray's Inn, Mayor of Northampton, 1532-1543, in England. The Lawrence Washingtn was the Ancestor [capital his] of our George Washington, the first President of the United States.See Burke's *Visitation of Seats and Arms of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Grat Britain, published in London in 1852.Grantee of Sulgrave Manor, birthplace of George Washington."(131-132).
(Mr. Williams goes on further to list some other "notable" connections of the Williams line, including Mayflower ancestry, a few governors, etc.He doesn't specify their lines, so they are simply interesting but undocumented claims as far as I am concerned.)
Hope this is useful!
