There were several court cases in Vermillion Co., Ill. that invovled the Makemson family. Abraham Lincoln was the lawyer.
One case was Brown vs. Makemson 1852 which states that "Makenson and nine others beat Wm. Brown, a minor." George Brown, apparently the father, retained Lincoln & sued for assault and battery. They were found guilty and Brown was awarded $100.
Another case: 1855 Andrew Makemson sued the Great Western RR for an assessment of damages for a right of way granted to the RR. He retained Lincoln for the case. The jury found for Andrew & he was awarded $560.
John, Andrew, & Hiram were defendants in the case of Brown vs. Makemson 1852.
