My ancester is a James M. Makemson who owned land in Johnson County, Arkansas. He was from Alabama. The spelling differs records. He married a lady be the name of Mahala Lou (don't know the last name) or Lou Mahala. Several of the families in Johnson County were from Alabama found on the 1850 Johnson County Census. He and his wife died sometime around 1878 leaving four daughters who we taken in by neighboring families who may or may not have been relatives. Daughters name Lula. Emma, Ida and one more that I can't recall the name right off. I need more information on your "James" if you have it. Austin Brasher was from Alabama and one of the families that took the girls in.
