I am searching for infornation on John Niilo Makela, possibly born in Oulu on 10 October 1907. He emigrated to Vancouer (Canada) where he worked as a woodcutter and a journalist. In 1937 went to Spain and joined the Mackenzie-Papineau of the International Brigades where he reached the grade of captain. He died in battle for the defence of Caspe. His name appears writen in the only monument built by the International Brigades which survived the war. It was erected in August 1938. I need these data for a book on the abovementioned monument which I am writing. Thand you very much for your help.
