We all seem to agree that there is multiple ways of spelling the name of Mayes. I am researching the line of James Mayes (this is the way my husband's line spelt it) 1700 Ireland or possibly Germany to Bath Co., Virginia. What I would like from anyone related to this James Mayes/Mays/Mayse/Maise/Maze to contact me with your line and your spelling of your line. As families moved away sometimes spellings changed . So let's see if we can figure out when the changes came.
I have found lines with the spelling of Maze, Mays and Mayse and of course the way my husband's line spells it Mayes. Let's chart the changes. Contact me at: jfhudson@att.net
