James Maitland Lauderdale, is my 6th great grandfather0. He was born in 1690 in Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland and died August 17, 1869 in Sumner County, Tennessee, USA.

He is the son of John Maitland Lord Ravelrig, Earl of Lauderdale, (born in 1650 in Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland and died August 30, 1720 in Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland) and Margaret Cunningham, (born 1662 in Glencairn, Dumfries-shire, Scotland and died May 12, 1742 in Hawthornden, Mid Lothian, Scotland.

James Maitland Lauderdale married Jean Sutherland Gordan, who was born May 1, 1706 in Duddington, , Mid Lothian, Scotland and died February 11, 1746 in Botetourt, Virginia, United States

I am descended from their daughter, Elizabeth Sarah Lauderdale, (my 5th great grandmother), born 1728 in Augusta, Virginia, USA and died February, 1805 in Davidson, Davidson, Tennessee, United States.

Elizabeth Sarah Lauderdale is the sister of your ancestor, John Lauderdale, (he is my 5th great grand uncle). John Lauderdale was born in 1713 in North Ulster, Down, Ireland and died in 1790 in Greene County, TN, USA. John Lauderdale married Millbury Mauldin, who was born in 1722. (I have no other information on Millbury Mauldin. Their children were William (1742-1827) John (1744-1822) Thomas (1753-1786) Robert (1755-1808)and Mary(1756- ).

I have quite a lot of research and information on Clan Maitland and the Lauder line that I'd be happy to share, though my research is primarily related to my direct descendant, Elizabeth Sarah Lauderdale, who married Lewis Green in 1748 in Virginia.
