Yes, he is that William Maitland, although both my perdigrees show his date of death as October 1681. Where did you get 1684 from?
Soon after I posted my message, I did find Caitloch on the current Ordnance Survey map, although Glencairn must be on the next sheet. I did that by 'Googling' the name, which led me to the Miniaive website where you posted an item in December 2001, referring to "Fergusons and Maitlands" of Caitloch. were there other Maitlands at Caitloch, or were you just referring to Elizabeth's marriage to William Fergusson?
