Hi there, just read your posting and thought you might be interested to know that although we don't seem to follow the same tree, there were a lot of MAITLANDS in Fintry and the surrounding villages in the period you are interested in. My own family were living in Campsie at that time, about five miles away, and if the truth be told they havn't moved very far, I'm only 20 miles away from there. There are still quite a lot of MAITLANDS left in the area. Of my own family, I can only find one ancestor who emigrated, his name was WILLIAM MAITLAND b1840 campsie, m SARAH LAWRIE 1860 campsie emigrated 1889 to Passiac NJ and settled there.
