Actually, I had tried many months ago to scan and make available a readable copy of the letter. I know from my own experiences that old letters will invariably lend or give clues. This in mind, I was in contact with interested family members. These same interested family members are the ones who are of like mind as to custodian. You might know that there has been discussion about the Clan depository in Scotland. In my thinking, that is still an open option but, not one that I can/ or should be any part of deciding. This is a Maitland family issue to be decided by all of you in the true clan tradition of dialog (around a large bonfire <VBG> ?). Just out of curiousity; when was the last 'gathering" of the clan Maitland ?
