Masels and Maazels
I'm looking for information on
1) a Jacob Maazel who lived in St. Petersburg in the late 1800s. He was a painter for the czar. After Jacob died his young sons Victor and Abraham/Albert came from Russia to the U.S. ca 1900-1901 with their mother Sarah Kutner Maazel. The name was changed to Masel in this country. Another son Lonnie born ca 1892 was left behind in Russia in the care of an aunt.
2) a Solomon Maazel who was a violinist in the 1920s and 1930s presumably in NYC. He had a son who practiced commercial law in the firm Maazel-Reimann-Cohen.
3) a Hannah Mersel born ca 1907 whose family name had originally been Maazel.
4) a Morris & Estell Maazel who are listed as living in the Bronx in NYC in the 1920 U.S. census. They were born ca 1887 and may have had children Sophie and Leonard.
5) descendants of Annetta Maazel Boshko born in the mid 1800's with children Victoria (pianist), Natalie (violinist), George (cellist), Peter (engineer in Boston).
6) descendants of Anita Maazel Saisan or Raisan, sister of Annetta, who lived in the Ukraine with 3 or 4 daughters and who never came to the U.S.
