JOHN MAIER, of Billings, Passed Away
The sad news of the death of John Maier in Billings, Mont., was received in Longmont Tuesday night.
Mr. Maier was taken sick with the “flu” pneumonia in December and passed away at 7:30 Tuesday evening, January 9, 1923, aged 51 years.
He was very well known in Longmont and vicinity, having come here at the age of 17 years.He located on a farm and when the sugar factory was built became farm foreman, which position he held for years.
In 1917 he was transferred to Billings, Mont., as Agricultural Superintendent.
Mr. Maier joined the Odd Fellows Lodge when 21 years of age and was always an active member.He also belonged to the Masonic order.
He was a man very well liked, of genial disposition and kindly manner.He was very popular with the employees of the Sugar Co. with whom he was associated so many years.
Besides the wife, he leaves five children; three sons, Claire of Los Angeles, John of Billings, and Tom of Longmont; and two daughters, Rose of Billings and Mrs. Mary Major of Longmont.
The body will be brought to Longmont Saturday morning and funeral services will be held Saturday after at 2:00 o’clock from the Prohs Funeral Home.Interment will be made in Mountain View cemetery, the services to be in charge of the Odd Fellows.
