I am looking into the Maier family, my 1st husband is a Maier from Dunningen .. near schramberg in Baden Wurttemberg. I lived in the village for a short time, and being US some of the family would mention that one of the Maier's moved to the USA, but they all lost touch, and didn't know where they moved to? He had married a woman from a nearby village. The story is they the Maier family Catholic, and she Evangelical, so they had to move. They all thought it might have been Midwest? Two generations back? I am sure I'd get more information if I went back to Dunningen, and was allowed to look at the family book at the "Rathause". I was surprised with the reluctence of the family to talk about this relative.
