I was not aware that the surname had been changed, however I understand that this is not uncommon.

What if the name had been changed to "smith"?
There would be absolutly no way to trace it.

I am concentrating on MAIDEN only at this time.

I would like to see any info that you may have. especialy relating to citys of birth, residence etc.
