Hello! Sounds like we may have an ancestor in common.... The only information I have been able to obtain is as follows: Jeremiah Sr. of County Cork arrived in Plattsburgh, New York in the early 1840s where he married Catherine a few years later. I tried to follow-up for marriage records at the Plattsburgh, New York Office of the City Clerk; however, I was told that marriage records only go back as far as 1885 which is too late..... Both Jeremiah Sr. and Catherine died in Michigan. I obtained copies of their death records from the County of Menominee; however, records must not have been maintained accurately as most of the information on Jeremiah's death certificate is the same as Catherine's :) As for occupations, the records list Catherine as a capitalist, while Jeremiah was listed as a farmer. As for Rosbrin Castle, I once received an article identifying Rosbrin as the most easterly of the O'Mahony castles in West Cork, over two miles south of Ballydehob, and built in 1310. Supposedly a scholar named Fineen O'Mahony lived there for a time. What luck have you had with finding information? Any information you can share? I would love to track information back to Ireland, but have been hitting quite a few "walls" here in the states.....Plus, I don't know if that is possible without info to check parish/church records....
