  of 1879

Seeking information on Cornelius Mahoney/Mahony (1828-1905) who was born in County Cork, Ireland, the son of Timothy and Mary (Gogan) Mahony. Cornelius came to the U.S.A. in 1845 with (according to a family tradition) two brothers who later settled in the Dakotas and were never heard from again. Cornelius lived in New York; Ohio; JoDaviess County, Illinois (where he was naturalized in 1855); Delaware County, Iowa; Crawford County, Iowa; Box Butte County, Nebraska; and finally in Nance County, Nebraska where he died.

Cornelius married around 1853 Bridget Summers Fitzgibbon and they were the parents of: Martin (married Mary Collins), James, Timothy, John (married Mary Ann Manion), Cornelius (later changed his name to Charles, married Anna Welch), Maurice, Mary, and Gerald.
