Hi Claudia & Thomas,

I have traced my paternal line back to Pat Mahon (my ggg-grandfather) from Cashel townland near Mohill, who I think died c'1863 (??). Oral tradition in our family suggests that he had 8 son's. Local history indicates that one of these (Pat too) was shot in a local skirmish with the RIC in 1844 aged ~18. My gg-grandfather (Michael) initially settled in a neighboring Clooncarren townland. He and his family were later moved to Rosdoowaun townland by the Earl of Leitrim in c'1868 where my family still reside today. Based on researching estate records and other on-line databases I assume another son of Pat's was Thomas who's family kept the holding in Cashel into the 1900's however I have little or no details about any other members of this family.

Does this tie in with your research to date? If you have any further information or details I would be delighted if you could forward them on.
Best Regards,
David
