Stephanie,
I guess, at this point, your are a 1st or 2nd cousin. My mother, Pauline was named after Aunt Paulina. She used to be in regular contact with Aunt Paulina, but the letters ended in the late 60's or early 70's.Most of my known relatives in the US are Keefes, or O'Keefes as the name was Americanized.I can give you names of probably 30 cousins that are here in New Jersey or New York.My knowledge of Newfoundland is limited to oral family history and information from the internet as I began this research in November 99.Information from NF is sketchy, but slowly filling in. There are 4 brothers and 2 sisters surviving from the original 10 Keefe children. My Uncle Pat was in Freshwater in 1975, but is sketchy on who is still alive or remaining in NF.John Maher was here in the US in the early 70's for a long stay and I understand he is in Vancouver now.I have been doing alot of my research at the Latter Day Saints, for both sides of my parents. There are 10 cousins in the 30 to 40 age group and there are probably 20 cousins born to them.Sometime next year, my mother would like to travel to NF for family research and to see what her parents spoke of all those years. She is 69 and has never set foot on her parents native land.
