KENNEBUNK, Maine - Eleanor A. Flavin, 96, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004.

She was born in Biddeford on Oct. 17, 1908, the daughter of Patrick and Alice (McCarn) Mahaney. Mrs. Flavin was a lifelong resident of Biddeford until her last four years, when she lived at The Atria, Kennebunk, where she made many new friends.

She was a former employee of Swift & Company; an active member and supporter of St. Mary’s Church; a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; and wonderful friend to many.

Mrs. Flavin is survived by her two sons, Stuart V. (Eleanor) Flavin Jr. of Newark, N.Y., and Dr. David P. (Catherine) Flavin of Eliot; five grandchildren, Katherine Flavin (Mark) Badertscher, Stuart V. (Dawn Pelton) Flavin III, Elizabeth M., Moira E., and Brendan D. Flavin; three great-grandchildren, Stuart and Olivia Badertscher, and Kaila Pelton-Flavin; and several cousins.

She was predeceased in 1977 by her husband of 40 years, Stuart V. Flavin.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at St. Mary’s Church, Biddeford. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery will immediately follow the ceremony. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 12 St. Mary’s Place, Biddeford, ME 04005
