Have you been in touch with Clarke Mahaney? I believe this gentleman is an ancestor of his. I haven't been able to connect with any of my Mahaney relatives in New York and have been searching a long time. I have seen many postings Clarke has done, related to a Thomas Mahaney and Norma Plato.

In any event this is a snippet from an email he sent me - I don't think he would mind my copying it to the forum - he is interested in making connections. I have two addresses for him - and, but I am not sure how current they are. I haven't been in touch in three years and just thought I'd take another peek at the postings.

"In the 1900 census for Watkins, Schuyler, NY I find my grandfather Thomas
Mahaney being raised by Elizabeth Mahaney as the head of household. I don't
know how she fits in though because the census says that she was only in the
country for 10 years at that time and all of the children were more than 10
years old and born in tha USA. She could have been my g-grandfather's sister
or a second wife. She was born July 1851."

I hope this is helpful - Kathy Miller, Ontario Canada (great granddaughter of Catharine Elizabeth Mahaney, born somewhere in New York State, Dec. 17, 1855)
