Looking for information on a Mahaffey Family from North Carolina. My great Grandmother was Laura Caroline Mahaffey, born February 4, 1878 in Nantahala, Swain County, NC, died in Walker County, Georgia, January 20, 1962. Was married to Oliver Perry Gilbert. Oliver died 1931,Both are buried at Sarahs Chapel Cemetary, New England, Dade County, Georgia. They had one child, Gladys Mae, born February 2, 1908, died October 23, 1986. Married to Olin Hays. Both are buried at Lookout Cemetary, High Point, Walker County, Georgia. The only information I have is her Father, Dock MaHaffey, born 1834, her Mother, Larceny J. Siblings, Doctor 1866, Margaret L. 1870, John W. 1872, Thomas P. 1874, James R. 1876. I can remember going to Laura's brother's or sister's farm, near Robbinsville or Murphy, North Carolina when I was young, I am 62 now, so that was quite a few years ago. I would appreciate any infomation on this family, as I am working on a family history, (ie. birth place & date, death date & place, burial place, children..etc. I have everything from laura on down to present if anyone is doing history on this family.
