Hi,
Here's what I found on Thomas J. Ferrier. Some of the information doesn't quite add up but I'll share with you what I found.
According to the US WW I Draft Cards 1917-1918, a Thomas Jacob Ferrier enlisted and was born Apr 28, 1881 in Cleafield County.
In the 1900 Census for Mahaffey, Cleafield, PA, Thomas Ferrier was listed as being 19 and was a boarder with Isaac (65), Sarah (63), Alice (28), Thorton (11) and Lucile Haney (4).
In the 1910 Census for Mahaffey, Cleafield, PA, Thomas Ferrier was listed as living with Robert Redding (41), Mabel (33), Harry (21), Wilson (14), and Clara Redding (8).Thomas was listed as being 42 along with Alice (41), Lucile (14) and Thorton Bell (21).
In the 1930 Census, in Mahaffey, Cleafield, Thomas J (49), Alice H (59), TJ Bell (38) and Wilda L Bell (27).
In the Indiana Gazette Sat, Aug 1, 1942,the obituary reads...Thomas James Ferrier, a resident of Mahaffey for 42 years, died Thurs in Cleafield Hospital. His widow survives.Funeral services will be conducted in his late residence @ 2:30 pm and interment will be in Mahaffey Cemetery.
It seems that he had a son named Jacob. In the Oct 25, 1899 issue of the Indiana Progress, it says that Mr. Thomas Ferrier and son Jacob were guests of Mr. Andrew Ferrier of town on Tuesday.
His father was John Ferrier and mother was Elizabeth Washington.I believe they died between 1933 and 1937.
I found an obituary for his sister Mrs. Montgomery (Clara) Sterner who died in Hillsdale and was buried at the East Mahoning Baptist Church near Purchase Line. She was born in Montgomery Twp Sept 2 1882.Her parents are listed as the late Mr and Mrs John Ferrier. This is from the March 17 1937 Indiana Progress and says that she died on a Friday.
He also had a sister Bertha McIlwain, Cherry Tree, and Mrs. Vernie May Ferrier Trimble (obituary in the Aug 30, 1933 Indiana Progress) who had a son Arnold. She is buried in the Thompson Cemetery. His surviving brothers are listed as Ford Ferrier of Rochester Mills, and Clair Ferrier of Rossiter.
I hope this helps!
