Frederic, I'd have to agree with your post on this one. I appreciate the reply and discussion, of course, and I would have to agree with you on the blood marriage issue. That, plus the Beall wills seem to put Mary Beall as Andrew Hamilton's wife rather than John Pottinger's, for sure; which certainly does cause problems with the mention by Samuel of "brother John Pottinger" in his will. I also agree that there was probably not a double marriage by Mary. I was just commenting on the possible how's and why's the original Beall assumption got made. I always thought that Ninian did have a daughter Sarah, which was what caused the whole "match" to take place. I was unaware that he did not. Anyway, thanks again for the reply and the discourse. I am not currently working on the problem of Sarah right now but am working around it. I will soon be able to really spend the time to read yours and Peter's posts more thoroughly very soon and hopefully catch up to you both on this issue. JD Notify Administrator about this message?
