My gggrandfather was Edward SHELTON (b1805 VA)who is found with a Samuel SHELTON (b1807 VA)in 1835 Williamson Co, TN in the Trinty/Rock Hill district 19 tax poles. Then on 1-1-1837 Edward Shelton marries Zilpha (Magness) GLENN (b1809 TN)- the widow of William GLENN who died in 1835, marriage witnessed by Samuel Shelton. William and Zilpha had at least one child (John Glenn) who was 2 yrs old at 1-1-1837. Edward moves over into district 18 with Zilpha to the Abram GLENN land for about ten years (according to probate records). William Glenn was the son of Abram Glenn. Then the Edward Shelton family moves to Carroll Co., MS about 1848 to once again join Samuel Shelton and family.
I have also found a Zachariah Magness in earlier 1830 Willamson Co. census ... believe Zilphia was already married to William Glenn at that time.
I have written long ago, but see a renewed interest in the Magness & Glenn postings ... so I hope someone may have run across more info on the above. THANK YOU. Please email SheltonRouton@msn.com
