Shirley, I believe my grandmother,lottie(Carlotta) Magness Smith is Hugh's sister. The family grew up in the Wortham,TX area, and I have recently learned that a number of the Magness family members are buried in the area. I spoke with Sybil Magness Baldwin in corsicana TX. who has done extensive research. I plan to visit her within the next few weeks and visit cemeteries, see her research,etc.I was so excited to know that info is still around. I live in Bastrop,Tx-about 30 miles east of Austin (512-581-0150). Sybil doesn't have or want a computer, but can be reached at903-874-5562. She is precious and more than willing to share any pertinent info. Rumor has it that Hugh and Carlotta had a "falling out" and went to their graves with the unknown issue unresolved. Would love to hearfrom you. If you live nearby, I would love to meet you.
