Dale,

Your message back with all its information re/ Magness family of Magness/ Big Bottom Arkansas & Col. Magness was overwhelming with its history and connections!! And your scholarship of the family makes me wonder whether you too are of that/ our family??

BTW, I made an error in reading my late aunt's notes: Morgan Edgar Magness was the direct line (8/16/1883- 12/23/03) of W.D and Mary Edgar, YET Myrtle Edgar was not M. E.'s wife, she was an adopted (by her aunt Mary) to be a "sib" of W.E. and then married Charles Magness and continued THAT line with 3 daughters: Cleo, Vivian, and Nita. Vivian is/was my grandmo on my father's side. And I have info on the 3 sisters and their offspring. FWIW.

Do you have any more regarding Jonathan and his early connections in Tenn before 1820 or so? Also, the Edgar family I need to check on that forum, particularly if Myrtle was adopted by her aunt Mary in the 1880s, for these are the kinds of broken links and connected links that are little discussed but illuminating for us today. So interesting that an Edgar married a Magness again during that time and location. And that makes me ask about who Charles Magness was, in Arkansas around the turn of the 20th century? Do you know, Dale, for I sure don't :-). He would be my great grandfather with daughters born around the turn of the last century 1900.

Either answer here or with me at my email address: drsbrown@concentric.com would be great, if you have the time and info at your hand.

Yes, the Magness's and Brown's of Arkansas were still politically active and well to do well into the 20th century, as they were earlier you say of the W.D. Magness/ Col Magness line of the 1800s.

Dale, you have already given much in your response and I am most thankful!

Best, Suzanne
