Pittsburgh Tribune, online. 3 March 2005 Michael J. Megley East Pittsburgh Michael J. Megley, 85, of East Pittsburgh, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005. Mike was a World War II Army veteran and served with the First Division. Mike was in the first wave landing at Normandy Beach on D-Day and also in the landing at Sicily. He received a Purple Heart with two clusters. Mike was a retired employee of Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh Plant, with 44 years of service. He was a member of the East Pittsburgh VFW Post 5008, the East Pittsburgh American Legion Post 2 and the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 736. Brother of the late Mary Brletic and the late Thomas Megley. Uncle of Thomas Brletic, of Butler, and James Megley, of Rankin. Granduncle of Mary Jo Weinel, of Butler, T.J. Brletic, of Allison Park, Julie Zanolla, of Erie, and Tiffany Wagley, of Maryland. Also eight great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh, (412) 824-8800. Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Friday in St. William Church of Holy Cross Parish. Burial with military honors will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
