I am a direct descendant of Patrick Maginnis and Jess MacCan who gave birth to Owne Maginnis in 1840 in Yorkshire, England. Owen migrated to Kirkcudbright, Scotland where he married Margaret Cole McGhie. There were ten children, four McGhie's (Michael, Janet, Ellen, Sarah Margaret) and six Maginnis (twins, Owen and Margaret, William (my gradnfather), and twins, Elizabeth and John. I am the only descendant on my Fathers side, but would like to find other cousins. My grandfather came to the States in 1890. His cousin, Alex, (son of John) lived in Long Island,New York. He passed away ~1950. He had four children. Alex sister, Margaret Jane, never married and if she is still alive, is 95+ and living in Dalbeattie, Scotland. The only other relatives would be descendants from the McGhie Children. Janet was married to a John Coyle. Sara married someone named White. Helen married a Hargreaves. And Michael McGhie supposedly had children but can find no record of marriage, births or deaths. Would like to hear from some one in this line.
