Glad to help! Keep in mind that I don't have any documentation for this info...it's family "lore" that's been passed down. But like I mentioned earlier, it's a place to start. :-)
I show that Samuel and Rebecca Robertson Maggard left Rockingham County, Virginia and traveled through the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky, arriving in October or November of 1805. When leaving Virginia, it is noted that they lived for two or three years in Lee County, Virginia. I'm not sure of the date when they first left Rockingham, VA, but based on the timeline above, I would say 1801-1802?
Also, according to all my records, Susannah Maggard and Henry Back's children were all born in Letcher County, KY, near the Cumberland.
I'm going to purchase the book "Coming Down Cumberland" by V.N. "Bud" Phillips, because it seems that a lot of the family history from this line of Maggards [starting the Hans (Maegart) Maggard, great-grandfather of Samuel Maggard] are included. I think it is only $15.00 or so...I've located it on Amazon.com. It might be helpful to provide more information on your search.
I hope all of this helps!
