George was born 2 Dec 1858, East Douglas, Worcester County, MA, to Thomas Nathanial & Mary A. (Buffum) Magee. Mary was born in MA & in 1863, age 31. Thomas N. Magee was a native of Vermont. In Dec 1864, on his way to Wash DC to be mustered out of the Army, he lost his life on the North America, a Federal transport, went down off Roanoke, Virginia.
George Magee was educated in MA and RI, and studied law in Worcester, MA. In 1880 he located to Iowa & in 1881 to Fort Benton, MT, where he worked 5 or 6 years in the freighting business & then went on a cattle and horse ranch on Birch Creek. In 1899, he bought the Depuyer Acantha, a weekly newspaper published in Dupyer, MT. He sold the paper in 1904 & moved to 500 acres adjoining the Town of Dupuyer. He practiced law and became prominent in county and state politics.
In 1900, George married Miss Catherine Laudin. Magee children: Harold, George, and Marion. In December 1915, George married Emma Longfellow of Indiana.
