My last name is Magallan and the story that my father told me long ago is that his father was a Magallanes but for some unknown reason, he (my grandfather) insisted that his children drop the es at the end of the name. My father's family was from San Juan Texas. I wonder if there is any relation here with your Great Grandmother Norberta. Do you recall hearing any stories about her maiden name like the one I just mentioned?

My grandfather's name was Raphael Magallan(es) and he was married to Julia Guzman in San Juan Texas.
