About this Maestas reunion....when was it supposed to take place?....did it happen?....when & where?
My husband is a Maestas...Jake E., son of Juan Francisco Maestas, from Vallecitos, NM., born November 1900, son of Andres/z Maestas (dead end so far), husband of Maria Eutimia Jaquez. Apparently not from the exclusive regions that you mention; but We have not been to one town, city or state without running into a relative of theirs, if not directly Maestas, somehow connected to one. And this are mostly chance encounters, without intentionally looking for family. Small world huh?
I have very recently become interested in genealogy & researching. Now I wish I'd paid more attention to info of those chance meetings over the years. O, well...young & dumb, I guess......but, hey, have great hind-sight! LOL
This Maestas family settled in Salida, Co. from the late 1800s-early 1900s on. Now they are all over the world.
Jake's mother, Desideria Laura (Vigil) Maestas will be 100 years old in May 2006....huge celebartion reunion is in the works. I'm scrambling to find any info possible on this family to try to put together a decent family tree as far back as I can as my contribution to the event. Not a lot of luck so far, tho. A sister in law is putting together a photo collage to present and the rest are working on other aspects of preparation.
