Hello,
Saw your post asking for information on the Maestas line from Mancos area. Here is what I have on my mother-in-laws family. Let me know if you find a link. There must be one somewhere because that area isn't very big and I can't see how there could be to many families with that last name.
My mother-in-laws family still have a ranch outside of Mancos and cousins still live on the land.

As you can see, we have nothing on out great grandmother. This is the take from the person who was doing the genealogy for me. "If Fidel had been married earlier as mentioned on the 1920 census before his marriage to Felima Montoya, then Patricio, Jose Antonio, Cidelia and Francisco were children of the first marriage but raised by Felima as her own. A copy of any one of their birth records should give their mother's name. Fidel and Felima only had five children together by 1930 and they were listed as being Josefa, (my mother) Carmelita, Charlotte and Samuel and Solomon." Also, "New Mexico census records show Felima Montoya and her brother Amaranti Montoya were adopted by Manuel Miera. Their adopted mother's name is not mentioned on the census record, just as Mrs. Miera. The mother's name is also not listed on the 1900 census as she appears to be deceased. Felima's birth father was Gregorio Montoya, born about 1853 of Bernallio, New Mexico. His wife was named Juanita but her last name is still unknown. More research needs to be done to document that they were Felima's parents but all indication now is that Gregorio and Juanita were their parents. Another record mentions Antonia as Felima's mother's first name. For now, her birth parents, Gregorio Montoya and his wife Senora Juanita Montoya are being listed instead of her adopted parents. On the 1920 census in Rio Arriba, New Mexico, Felima shows that she have five children. She could not read or write English (spanish is unknown) was age 35 making her to be born in 1885 and was a cook for a private family. In 1930 the census of Mancos, Montezuma, Colorado states that Felima had been married 16 years earlier for the first time (1914) was age 49, making he be born in 1881 and has 3 daughters living with her. Two of her chilren Samuel, age 5 and Solomon age 2 are not living with her on the census. Since the family were living in town at the time so the school aged children could attend school, it is possible that the children were living on the family ranch with older brother Francisco, age 18, who is also missing from the family."
Jose Fiedel Maestas and Felima Montoya had the following children:
Patricio Maestas, born 1906 in Chama. Patrick may have died as a very small child. (This is true because my Mom talks about him and said he died when he was a child.)
Jose Antonia Maestas, born in 1908 in San Juan de los Caballeros, He died in 1914.
(I never knew about this uncle)
Cedelia, born on 10/18/1910.
Franciso Maestas. Born on 7/14/1911 and died in December 1980.
Josephine Maestas. Born 9/21/1913.
Carmelita Maestas. Born 3/3/1917. Died on 3/17/1996.
Carlotta Maestas. Born on 6/22/1919. Died 5/5/1997.
Samuel maestas. Born on 6/10/1925. Died in June 1983.
Solomon Maestas. Born 1928. Died in 1984.
Ernesto Maestas. Born 1931.
